The IKMZ scicomm division analyses the production, characteristics, uses and effects of science communication. It focuses on public communication in all its forms, e.g., in news, online and social media, and towards the broader public and specific stakeholders. Its research also accounts for the preconditions of public communication, e.g. on public attitudes towards science, on the sociostructural conditions of public spheres, on actor constellations or affordances provided by social media platforms.
